The realisation of a passion for local history encouraged first time author Stuart Allison to research an old, abandoned mansion house in the market town of Ulverston in South Cumbria. What he discovered made him change his project – from the history of the house, to the history of the family who lived there. The book follows the lives of the 16 children of Myles Kennedy, all born at the end of the 19th century and lived through one of the most turbulent times in modern history.
